Health Care can be bifurcated into multiple segments. The manufacturing sector can be categorized with manufacturing of medicines and equipment's. The trading can be bifurcated with supply and distribution. The most important category in the Health care segment is management of hospitals, clinics, wellness centers, rehabilitation centers, therapy centers, etc.
The standard modules of Odoo ERP system like accounting, sales, purchase, inventory management, manufacturing, PLM, document management, HR, strategic planning, budgeting, employees, expenses, etc. can cover the fundamental requirements needed for manufacturing and trading of healthcare products. Apart from the standard modules, the key requirements needed for the manufacturing sector are quality management, which consists of quality control with purchase of raw materials, quality control during the manufacturing process, follow FIFO method for managing inventory, so the medicines manufactured first are dispatched and there is no backlog of medicines nearing the expiry date.
Quality control
The functionality is provided in Odoo enterprise, but initially we at Synconics Technologies have built the Quality Control module from the previous versions when Odoo didn’t provide this functionality. Our quality control module is updated to the latest v15 which covers the purchase quality inspection + manufacturing inspection report.
Concerning human health, the quality checks in the health care industry are mandatory. Quality checks are done at multiple levels, while receiving the raw materials on purchase, during the manufacturing process with multiple routes till the finished product. At every step if the percentage level is not up to the set quality parameters, either the product can be rejected or during the purchase check the raw material can be returned back or rejected.

Subcontracting

The other key feature available for the manufacturing process is “Subcontracting”. Many companies do not manufacture the actual product, they subcontract their products to other companies for manufacturing and they sell the products with their own brand. Odoo offers subcontracting functionality in the manufacturing module. In subcontracting it also offers the functionality to manage supply of the raw material by the company or the raw material is directly handled by the subcontractor.
Inventory management
The inventory can be managed in Odoo through FIFO method which means the raw material which comes in first needs to be consumed first in the manufacturing process. Similarly the manufactured products which are manufactured prior are to be supplied first to the vendors. The FIFO method is very effective to manage the expiry date and have the quality products in the market.
The FIFO method is also effective for the traders and distributors of medicine and other products bearing an expiry date. The stock is always updated with fresh products and they evade the loss occurring due to the expired stock.

Health Care Service sector

The other segment of health care is the service sector, like hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, physiotherapy center, wellness centers, etc. In Odoo the service sector of healthcare can be handled. Only the manufacturing module is not considered, rest all the modules are required like CRM for patients data, scheduling appointments, inventory for managing medicine stock, HR for hospital staff recruitment, management of staff and payroll, maintenance module for maintaining equipment's, accounting, etc.
Hospital or Clinic Management
Synconics technologies has developed a Hospital management System catering to the functionalities needed for hospitals with multiple beds in multiple wards. From the administrative management, doctors/Nurses/ward boys management, patient profile management with historical patients records the system handles the data and provides the details at the fingertips. The system generates records for hospital bed availability and occupancy.
Similarly “Clinic Management” module is developed by our company Synconics Technologies. It has all the features needed for managing a clinic without hospital beds. The clinic management module is used for small clinics, Physiotherapy centers, wellness centers, etc. the system has appointment facility, patients profile management with historical data of patients medical details. It has details to manage onsite doctors/Nurses visit.
